Being a lifelong urban inhabitant, I have been seeking ways to open up more space for “the wild” in my life. First step was to fine-tune my perceptions so that I could spot “them”. Thus started my urban wildlife observations.

The practice of spotting goes hand in hand with practices of collecting; collecting stuff (such like feathers and leaves, seeds and dead bodies), and collecting (records of) memories, in the form of sounds and pictures, - sometimes still, other times moving. Yet these spotting experiences are never momentary, they are living encounters with afterlives in narratives. Through my practices as a nature observer, photographer, haiku enthusiast and storyteller, I have contemplated on the “reality” of those beings, reality of the moment, and the nature of human-nature interactions.

Stemming from these urban encounters with my nonhuman neighbours, In-habitant is an autobiographical project that hosts a body of interconnected works. Through interdisciplinary and multimedia forms of photography, videography, found objects, sculpted works, and computer-coded interactive installations, the project transmits the records and stories of my decade-old journey at three metaphorical rooms, each representing a specific layer of human-nature contact.

Gündelik kent yaşamım içindeki “tesadüfi” karşılaşmalar ve deneyimlerime dair tuttuğum kayıtlar, sakladığım “kanıtlar” ve kurduğum anlatılar aracılığıyla, doğa ile çok katmanlı ilişkiler kurdum; bu ilişkiler üzerinden insanın ve doğanın gerçeğini araştırıp durdum.

Burada, bu birikimi sanatsal bir yeniden yaratım sürecine sokarak, şimdiye dek bana sunulan ve sandığımda biriktirdiğim armağanları, dünyaya geri sunmaya niyet ediyorum.

Sergilemeye kalkıştığım yolculuk, zihnimin ve onun haritası olarak çizmeye çalıştığım mekanın üç odasında, üç eş zamanlı katmanda seyir ediyor.
